What’s in my Wardrobe: Anna Mather

What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe and why?

Tough decision, I’m a bit of a clothes hoarder! But if I had to choose just one item, it would have to be my pink tailored jacket. I can’t thank River Island enough for it – it’s the perfect colour to brighten up an outfit without too much punch. Plus, it’s my lucky charm, having worn it for two interviews where I got the job both times!

What’s the oldest item in your wardrobe?

The oldest item in my wardrobe is perhaps a cream embroidered blouse from Topshop. I remember falling in love with it at first sight, and I wore it so much. Now it has a giant hole in the collar, and has shrunk in the wash, but it still hangs with my other blouses – it definitely has pride of place in my wardrobe.

What’s the most worn item in your wardrobe?

My most worn item has to be my cropped shearling-style jacket. I picked it up in the New Look sale last Christmas, and wear it almost every day, regardless of the season. It goes with everything I own, and makes me feel as if I’ve got my life together!

What’s the biggest fashion mistake in your wardrobe?

So they’re that bad of that I’ve never actually worn them. During first year and a mad ASOS shopping spree, I ‘fell in love’ with these mint green dungarees and when they came, they were horrific. One, I’m 5ft and they drowned me; two, the colour was just all sorts of wrong – think mint choc chip ice-cream mixed with lime green… Just ew. Stupidly, I never returned them, so they hang un-worn I my wardrobe, haunting me forever.

What will you be buying next?

I’m currently on my Year Abroad in the South West of France and adapting to this climate means dressing for Autumn/Winter but expecting 20 degrees by 5pm. So, I’m after pieces that I can layer. I love those cute little cami dresses over tees or jumpers, I’m just not sure if I’ll find any in France during Winter!
