Lancaster University Paintball Society is holding a fund raising event in Freshers’ Week for the armed forces charity Help for Heroes.

Now coming into its second year, the society has decided to create a way of giving money as well as raising the profile of their group. The competition event will be held on Tuesday, October 5. The organisers hope that with support and the right amount of popularity the event will continue onto the Wednesday.

Following recent fundraising for the cause including a concert featuring headline musicians and comedians the society decided to add their support.

The event will pit contestants in a shooting range in which they will attempt to hit as many targets as they can. For £2.50, contestants will get a round of ammunition and a time limit to hit the targets. Whoever can hit the most will be in line to win prizes. Prizes range from society membership, t-shirts and hoodies to paintball equipment and days out. All proceeds after running costs will go to charity.

The society’s efforts have recieved a lot of support from LUSU and has also been given help from a number of large paintball equipment manufacturers and suppliers, who have kindly donated the prizes.

If you would like to get involved with the society, you can find them at the Freshers’ Fair on the Wednesday of Freshers’ Week. The society signs up members interested in the game, with trips including transport to and from local paintball sites. As well as days out, the society takes part in national tournaments.
