What’s your favourite item in your wardrobe and why?
I don’t think I can name just one favourite item in my wardrobe, but isn’t that the beauty of fashion? I have quite a big collection of coats and jackets and I’m a true bag-lover. My wardrobe is a mixture of designer, chain brands and second-hand clothes (and when I say second-hand I don’t mean vintage shops). That allows me to have a bit of luxury, classic designs and originality in every outfit!
What’s the oldest item in your wardrobe?
As you might have already gathered I am a purse-gal. Clutches, shoulder bags, totes; I have A LOT of them. Hence the oldest item in my wardrobe must be (drums)…a bag. It is a handmade 1950s white pearl clutch I bought in a vintage shop in Rome about 2-3 years ago. I’ve used it about twice, because of its petite size, but it is definitely one of the most beautiful things I have in my wardrobe. It should have been in a gallery, but ended up in my drawer – how lucky am I?
What’s the most worn item in your wardrobe?
That would definitely be my grey turtleneck that my dad bought 10 years before I was even born. I sometimes wear it two or three times a week. It’s really comfy and worm, goes with pretty much everything and is perfect for English weather. I even wear it sometimes during those chilly summer days with shorts and espadrilles.
What’s the biggest fashion mistake in your wardrobe?
My Mum believed in expressing yourself through clothes from a young age, so on a “Find your own style” journey I’ve had a couple of them. Two of them that I can still remember were:
- Brown cord A-line maxi skirt that was one of my favourites at the time (when I was around 11). I’m pretty sure it had embroidered flowers on it as well. I used to wear it with a pink T-shit and thought I could rule the world. To be fair, we all need that kind of encouragement and I found mine in that memorable skirt.
- Red trousers that made this swishing sound when I walked. I don’t think I need to add anything more.
What will you be buying next?
Apart from those 2 pairs of shoes I just bought? I think it is time for me to buy a Christmas jumper. Last year, instead of buying one with Rudolf (like the one from Bridget Jones), I went for one with DRAKE (???). Not very Christmassy, I know, but I completely fell in love with it.
