Commencing Monday 16th November, Make It Happen is a series of events that will be taking place in the Green Lane Conference Centre. In an elaborative collaboration of partners, including LUSU, the week entails nearly 40 events taking place under three ‘pathways’ – or themes – Enterprise and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Careers and Employability, so there is something for everyone irrespective of your career aspirations or interests.
Events include ‘Demystifying Work Experience’, which is a talk on what the university can do to help you with work experience; a Tech Startup Panel, providing insights from those who’ve brought their mobile apps and other digital developments to life, won investment or found ways to generate income from tech skills; Making the Most out of LinkedIn and Introduction to Marketing and Project Management, to name a few. The week will round off with the return of Startup Weekend, which is returning to Lancaster after a successful run last year.
The majority of events throughout the week may be counted towards your Lancaster Award Skills Bank, so the more you attend, the closer you are to achieving the award. The organisers are also offering an Apple Watch Sport (or a non-Apple smartwatch of equivalent value) for the person who attends the most events. If there’s a tie, the winner will be the person who pre-registered on TargetConnect for the most events that she or he attended. If there’s a tie, the winners name will be pulled out of a hat.
You can pre-book your place at an event via Target Connect by searching MIH. More information may be found at: http://www.lancaster.ac.uk/enterprisecentre/makeithappen/, or by emailing enterpriseteam@lancaster.ac.uk.
