A Lancaster University student had part of his ear bitten off while walking home from a night out.
Two students were walking back home after a night out on Saturday, Week 1. At around 3am on Sunday they were unexpectedly attacked by three strangers. One of the students, Andrew Roberts, a 20-year-old studying psychology at Lancaster University, had part of his ear bitten off.
Roberts said that he does not remember the details of the night clearly and is now recovering from the surgery that was performed. He said that the incident took place on Middle Street and was unprovoked. As soon as the three men realised that one of them had bitten off the ear, they fled the scene. No further description of the men is available.
Detective Tris Hardwick of Lancaster CID has issued the following statement:
“This was a violent and nasty attack on the victim which will result in him having to have surgery to repair the damage to his ear. The three men are thought to have approached the victim and his friend from the direction of King Street and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen them at the time to come forward. Similarly, I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about what happened to contact us as soon as possible.”
Detectives are in search of the three men, and have also appealed for information from people that might have been around in that area and noticed the incident. DC Tris Hardwick has suggested that anyone with relevant information should contact the police on 101 quoting the crime reference number as WB1700655.
