January is always a great month for new music, so here are 5 of the best tracks that have been released this month!
Troye Sivan – ‘My My My!’
Troye Sivan returns with a huge new banger ‘My My My!’, the first single from his upcoming sophomore album. This euphoric track is accompanied by an incredible music video, which shows a newly confident blonde Troye strutting around an abandoned warehouse and dancing in front of a power station. ‘My My My!’ is a euphoric declaration of love for his boyfriend Jacob Bixenman and it’s certainly made me hyped to hear his new album. Let’s hope he delivers more great singles in 2018 in the lead-up to the release of this new record.
Jorja Smith feat. Stormzy – ‘Let Me Down’
She’s just been crowned the BRITs Critics’ Choice for 2018 and now Jorja Smith has dropped another stunning single ‘Let Me Down’, featuring Stormzy. We’ve had to wait a while for new music from Jorja, as her last single was ‘On My Mind’, released in August 2017. This track is dripping with emotion and her decision to feature Stormzy was an excellent one, as it has certainly created a lot of hype over this song. It’s set to become her first UK Top 40 hit, so make sure you get into Jorja’s music before everyone else does!
Kali Uchis feat. Tyler, The Creator and Bootsy Collins – ‘After The Storm’
Kali Uchis is one of the world’s most exciting new artists, defying all genres with each song that she puts out. ‘After The Storm’ is incredibly sexy and funky and Tyler, The Creator is a great feature on this track. Originating from Colombia, Kali Uchis has such a unique visual aesthetic and her voice is so versatile, I’d describe her music as modern jazz-influenced pop. If you’re a fan of Lana Del Rey, you’ll probably love Kali’s voice, and she is currently supporting her on tour in the U.S. With a debut album coming this year and having already collaborated with Gorillaz, Kali Uchis is about to become huge.
Nina Nesbitt – ‘Somebody Special’
‘Somebody Special’ is the third single lifted from Nina Nesbitt’s highly anticipated sophomore album, which is set to be released this year. The track is super catchy and was debuted on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show. Nesbitt has achieved something unique with this song – she has managed to create an upbeat song with a melancholy undertone. With a UK tour coming up this May, make sure you catch Nina live to hear tracks from her new album!
Jade Bird – ‘Lottery’
Jade Bird was recently listed on the BBC Sound of 2018 poll, and rightly so. ‘Lottery’ showcases Jade’s pure talent, her raspy and passionate vocals and country edge are so refreshing to hear. If you’re a fan of First Aid Kit, you’ll probably love Jade Bird and after supporting Blaenavon in November last year, she’s back on the road this March for her own UK headline tour – so don’t miss out!
