The off-duty trend has been around for ages now, with it being championed by supermodels and street-style favourites. Any style can be reworked to look more off-duty and your wardrobe doesn’t even need any new additions, simply choose your wardrobe basics and follow the tips below.
You don’t have to channel a full Adidas tracksuit, but an item of sportswear is one way to pull off a casual, off-duty look. Paired with a pair of mom jeans, an oversized sweater and your Converse will do just fine. Or if you’re after something more girly, a metallic midi skirt with a jumper or a relaxed tee will show that you’ve style but you’re not trying too hard. If you prefer to be in a hoodie, Missguided currently have this gorgeous cropped hoodie in a black crushed velvet, its beautiful.
Simplicity in your pieces is important, but if you’re after a few details, minimal jewellery can inject some oomph or a stand-out pair of trainers. Boohoo have these great dusky pink high tops with fur pom-poms on – I’m currently awaiting their delivery to my door. They are super cute and a little different to your everyday shoes. Or, a pair of Stan Smiths or New Balance’s will give your outfit.
Pared-back makeup is key to achieving the off-duty look, but if in doubt, go bare and brave the day. Strong brows are absolutely necessary, so don’t worry if you have one of those “Oops my brows are far too full on today” days. Highlight your cheekbones as much as you want to, a couple of coats of mascara, and a slick of gloss and you’re ready to go. Simple as that.
This is definitely a trend to revel in, and to enjoy. There’s no trend out there that allows you to be super comfortable while super stylish at the same time. Put on that puffa jacket, your trainers, and head to your lecture!
