On Tuesday (26th) at 18:30 the LUES will be hosting a talk by Dr Claire Crawford, an ‘Insight into a research career’ in LUMS lecture theatre one.
Dr Crawford graduated with a first in Economics from Lancaster in 2003, before studying for an MSc at UCL in 2004. A PhD in Economics of Education at the University of London soon followed. Crawford joined the Institute for Fiscal Studies, a prominent economics and public policy think tank, in 2004. Crawford’s career has been centred on research. She has held positions as a Research Economist, a Senior Research Economist and the Programme Director of the Skills sector for the IFS. She is particularly interested in educational attainment and higher education participation, especially regarding how education policy can improve outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. This was the focus of the talk Crawford gave at the Warwick Economics Summit in 2015.
Today, Crawford is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, as well as holding a position as an Assistant Professor in Economics at the University of Warwick.
