England is currently enjoying the balmy height of mid-August and for many, the task of finding the perfect bikini and the must-have round sunglasses are still in full swing. However, for those of us who have already island-hopped around the Greece or relaxed in sunny Spain, the prospect of snuggling up in the new seasons’ finest knitted jumpers is much more exciting.
Everyone who closely watched and analysed all of the AW13 trends when they hit the runways in February will know that this season doesn’t demand pastel colours to be stored away until next spring. Models on the Topshop Unique and J. JS Lee runways – to name but a few – were featured wearing fluffy faux fur capes in pastel blue and chic knitted jumper dresses in candy pink.
For some, the idea of wearing pastel colours in autumn and winter may be too confusing. If it is, never fear! Designers such as Jonathan Saunders and Erdem have stayed traditional with their designs and featured the customary autumn camel and winter navy in many of their pieces.
What does this mean for AW13? Basically, this autumn and winter there’ll be something for anyone. Whether you’re determined to stay in the spring swing or if you’re desperate to stash away the candy colours and return to the wonderful neutrality that autumn is famous for offering, the high street stores will be bursting with pieces to suit all styles.
