The jungle is being brought to Revolution Lancaster for one night only on May bank holiday Monday, May 7th, in aid of conservation projects in South Africa.
The jungle-themed party will completely transform the upstairs of the venue, complete with eight foot palm trees, five foot snakes and a piñata. Leaves and vines will deck the walls and there is sure to be monkeys everywhere. The party is fancy dress and the person in the best costume will receive a prize.
The event, organised by Lancaster University student Laura Caddick, aims to help fund the equipment and accommodation she will need during her volunteering project in South Africa. Caddick will be working on an array of conservation endeavours including improving and constructing pens for injured animals and helping at rehabilitation centres.
In the past, similar projects have helped injured cheetah cubs and vultures before allowing them to be released back into the wild. The project also aims to help communities in South Africa by developing infrastructure.
Caddick has already raised much of the money needed for her volunteering trip and hopes this charitable jungle of fun will help raise the remainder so that she can donate more money to additional expenses, such as extra materials when she is in South Africa.
The event will also host a raffle and the first 100 tickets bought include a free shot on entry. Tickets cost £4 which entails entry, a raffle ticket and transport to and from the University campus. Extra tickets for the raffle cost 20p each or a pound per strip, with the winner walking away with prizes such as a pair of Doc Martins or a jewellery voucher.
