Bowland fundraising to continue after Lent term success

Last term saw Bowland College organise a number of fundraising events for charity. On Friday of Week Seven a jungle-marathon themed fancy dress night was hosted to raise money for the M.S Society and Kidney Research.

Throughout the night there was a barbeque and items such as Beach Break Live tickets were auctioned off to help raise money. Prizes were awarded for best outfits, members of Bowland JCR were waxed, and various challenges were undertaken by the JCR exec. Overall this night resulted in £535 being raised for the college’s chosen charities.

Kath Embling, Bowland JCR Exec President said: “I was so impressed with the JCR’s hard work and also the support from members of Bowland. It has been decided we will continue raising money for the M.S society and Kidney Research, hopefully with events as successful as the last.”

Furthermore two brave members of the college, Richard Baron and Phil Harvey, are running a 222km race through the Amazon Rainforest next October to raise both money and awareness for these causes. As a result of the success of last term, Kath said: “It has been decided we will continue raising money for the M.S society and Kidney Research, hopefully with events as successful as the last.”
