EE network users kept in the dark

There will be no mobile phone coverage on the EE network between the hours of 8am and 6pm from the 22nd to 27th of September. The EE network – which covers Orange and T-Mobile – is being disrupted due to work on Bowland Tower necessitating the phone mast be switched off intermittently during this period.

In a widespread email to all students and affiliates of the university, Louisa Duff, the Marketing and Communications manager for the University’s facilities department, apologised on behalf of University House for the inconvenience and short notice given.

“Poor weather conditions have delayed contractors on working on the re-roofing of Bowland Tower which needs to be completed prior to arrivals weekend. The phone mast must be switched off to ensure that the work is carried out safely”, the email explained. “We apologise for the disruption this will cause you and the late notification of the work.”

Bowland Tower is scheduled for completion by early 2014 and will be used as an accommodation block for students.
