The first match for the men’s second team saw York’s Elphik and Reed take a win against Lancaster’s Sun and Chan in two close games ending 21-19 and 21-18. York then proceeded to take the next two matches taking the overall score to 3-0 to York. In the next round of matches, Sun and Chan took a win in the first game 21-14, but unfortunately failed to carry this momentum and lost 21-19 and 22-20 in the deciding game against York’s Robinson and Dickinson.

In the next game Lancaster’s Lo and Ze lost 21-9 against Elphik and Reed, but then came back in the next game to just miss out losing 21-18. York’s Leong and Kai won their two games constantly 21-19 and 21-19 against Lancaster’s Ingham and Stephan, bringing the score to 6-0 to York.

In the first pairing face off, Sun and Chan and Leong and Kai each won a game, with York’s pairing winning the deciding match 21-18. Lo and Ze also took their match to three games, wining 21-18 in the first, losing 21-14 in the second but then losing 21-17 in the final game. In the final game Elphik and Reed took their games 21-13 and 21-13 against Lancaster’s Ingham and Stephan, making the overall score 9-0 to York. From watching the match, both teams played well, and despite a tremendous win from York, the scores were often extremely close and the overall score isn’t reflective of the badminton that was played.
