Boomtown 2015: Best of Electronic

BORN ON ROAD SHOWCASE FT. SKIBADEE, DIRTY DIKE, JAM BAXTER & DABBLA

THE LION’S DEN

Probably one of the most exciting combinations on the Boomtown schedule, anyone who’s spent time in Bristol will recognise the frequent headline DJs Aries, Skitz and Kelvin 373 who founded this showcase, while everyone can get excited about the crème de la crème of jump-up drum & bass MCs, Skibadee, featuring. Elsewhere on the line-up Dirty Dike, Jam Baxter and Dabbla are some of the massive artists on renowned hip-hop label High Focus, giving the UK a voice in the US-dominated hip-hop scene: they’ll certainly have attitude. Expect dancehall, basement, reggae and jungle colliding for an energy-fuelled mega-rave. Bring water, not booze.

GOLDIE

BANG HAI PALACE

Not only is Goldie a drum & bass legend in his own right, this year at Boomtown he’ll be playing the same stage as the Metalheadz label: DJs who’ve brought us 20 years of D’n’B excellence. Bang Hai Palace is going to be drum & bass central and a regular haunt of ours, with the man who started it all certain to draw the largest crowds. If you’re not in it for the long-haul like us, at least catch this.

DJ EZ

CIRCO BASSLINE

Blending old and new garage alike for a fun, throwback vibe, DJ EZ will be outrageous coupled with the madness of the Bassline Circus. With easily the most stand-out Boiler Room sets in terms of nostalgia and energy, prepare for the tent to go off big time when EZ rolls in.

PREDITAH

CIRCO BASSLINE

2015 is shaping up to be The Year The Grime Came Back, with new artists on the rise and veterans like Skepta and Wiley returning to the festival circuit.  Bringing 2-step, garage and even gospel influences to his new-wave grime sound, catch Xenomania Records’ Preditah before you can’t afford to anymore.

Ellie Vowles

Deeply unfashionable and chronically unable to take things seriously. A lover of travel, music, food and anyone who will listen to me talk about things.
