A ‘Refreshers Fair’ will be taking place in the Great Hall on Tuesday 24th January (Week 2) from 4pm until 7pm.

With the hype of Freshers week and getting settled into university, many students may have missed out on the chance to join a society or start up a new hobby or sport during Michaelmas term. This fair brands itself as a “second chance” for those students.

LUSU Activities Intern, Eleanor Cootes told SCAN that “there will be around 60 societies taking part this year,” adding that the refreshers fair is “a great chance to come along and start something new for 2012.”

The fair will also have all the newly affiliated societies from 2011 attending, such as the Lancaster University French Society and the Electronic Dance Music Society, making the fair a perfect opportunity for students to express interests in new fields and meet likeminded people.

The Harry Potter society, Free-falling society and Paintballing society are also all confirmed to be featuring at the fair, along with many more.

Daniel Milner, Publicity Officer for LUPATS (Lancaster University Parkour and Tricking Society) who will  be represented at the fair, urges people to come and find them if they are interested in taking up an innovative new sport. “It’s a brilliant way to keep fit, make friends and enhance your physical capabilities whether you’ve done Parkour before or not” he said.
