Brits best dressed

Tuesday 21st February saw the return of the Brit Awards and it caused quite some controversies. Adele took away an accolade of awards, as did Ed Sheeranand Blur closed the show. There were no real shockers at the Brits, and I’ll be honest, I definitely watched the prestigious awards to have a nosey at what everyone was wearing.

Our British girls this year seemed to channel old school Hollywood glamour, as did the international acts. Jessie J flaunted two former massive trends, underwear as outerwear and lace, in a beautiful, provocative full length red number which exposed her knickers. Adele and Pixie Lott also went for full length dresses but Alexanda Burke clearly got it wrong in her bizarre gladiator inspired clashing gown. Florence Welch embodied the ethereal look in an Alexander Mcqueen by Sarah Burton mullet dress design, but unfortunately lost out on her chance on an award to the timeless Adele.

The international acts such as Lana del Rey and Rihanna also channelled full length glamour at the Brits. Lana, who won the International Breakthrough Act this year, looked every inch her Hollywood ego in an off the shoulder red dress which puzzled many as to how it even stayed up! Rihanna, who won the best international female for the second time in a row, wore a stunning backless embellished gown with a plunging neckline from Givenchy couture. Of course she gave it an edgy touch with elbow length leather gloves and long gold pendants.

Other guests, including the likes of Paloma Faith, and the girls from Littlemix rocked this season’s prints trends with Paloma in a beautiful aubergine printed dress. Footballer’s wife and model Abbey Clancy also bucked the full length trend and wore a cute pink sixties inspired frock teamed with a Bardot blow out, possibly more suitable for a fashion event.

The guys looked pretty much like guys at any event except for a few. One Direction coordinated in blinged out grey suits, similarly the Blur boys all wore Doc Martens and Louie Spence sparkled in a sequinned blazer. Although Ed Sheeran turned up looking dapper in a suit, he was back to his old ways soon after for his performance in a bright green tee. At least he knows how good red heads look in green!

Not only did the Brits celebrate great British music but also great British fashion. I can’t wait to see what everyone wears next year!
